Four pictures ironically inspired by the “Four Seasons” and the “Four elements” by Giuseppe Arcimboldo (Milan, 1526 – 1593).

The woman made of books is remarkably close to Arcimboldo’s “The Librarian”.

Unreadable signature of the artist and date on the purple book of the woman’s hat.

Watercolor on paper

Embossed with the manufacturer’s coat-of-arms lower left “Turnbull Superfine London Board”
